STRUCTURAL PROJECT MANAGER - Philadelphia, PA

As a Structural Project Manager, you will be responsible for the execution of projects starting with proposal writing through project close-out. You will facilitate solutions, organize and control project design and documentation, mentor and oversee staff designers and engineers, ensure effective resource sharing, and be responsible for project financials. You will develop and maintain client relationships and promote our firm in Commercial, Residential, Industrial, Institutional and Pharmaceutical sectors.

You will be required to interact with a facility end-user to identify, visualize and implement improvements in the as-built environment relative to infrastructure, and operational efficiency and safety initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Civil/Structural Engineering

  • 5 years minimum structural design work experience

  • 2 years minimum of project management experience

  • PE license required

  • Strong communication and technical writing skills

  • Experience in passive and active fall protection system selection is a plus

  • Knowledge and competency with OSHA 29 CFR 1910 Subpart D Walking-Working Surfaces Regulations and ANSI Z359 is a plus

  • Experience with Revit software desired

  • Experience with RISA and RAM design software desired

  • Provide marketing, planning, scoping, management, and coordination of technical aspects of projects

  • Represent the company in a positive and responsible manner

CIVIL PROJECT MANAGER - Blue Bell, PA

As a Civil Project Manager, you will be expected to be the lead engineer of a project team and the direct coordinator with other design discipline leads.  You will be required to be the responsible engineer for your own projects, delegate tasks, and mentor junior engineers, in addition to performing detailed calculations yourself while generating documentation for issuance.

 

You will be working under the direction of the Department Manager, as well as the firm’s Associates, and Principals. You may also be encouraged to assist with client interaction on behalf of Mainstay Engineering Group, Inc., and assist in the development of new clients and project work as part of your role as a Civil Project Manager. 

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • Minimum 10 years experience

  • Calculate stormwater pre- and post-development flow rates and velocities for stormwater management.

  • Design basins and stormwater conveyance systems utilizing BMP's.

  • Oversee and ensure the proper preparation of Site Plans, Grading Plans, Utility Plans, and Soil & Erosion Control.

  • Provide construction administration services including site observation field reports, contractor RFI responses, and shop drawing review.

  • Periodically assist with or oversee engineering topographic surveys, and provide verification of existing site features via site observation and investigation.

  • Review and have knowledge of project-specific applicable codes.

CIVIL ENGINEER - Raleigh, NC

The Civil Engineer will design, plan, and supervise the design of multiple simultaneous infrastructure projects such as building exteriors, roads, driveways, parking lots, utility pipelines, water, stormwater, and sewage systems.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Consults with and provides guidance to project stakeholders and managerial staff regarding engineering requirements for construction of various designs.

  • Uses design software and drawing tools to accurately render and communicate designs.

  • Coordinate subcontractors and vendors as needed for related systems and structures such as survey, environmental, utility location, transportation or hydraulics.

  • Reviews, understands, and applies applicable municipal, county, state, and federal codes.

  • Plans projects based on the analysis of relevant materials such as drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, survey reports, maps, and other geologic and topographical data.

  • Drafts and presents reports on topics related to projects such as stormwater management narratives, environmental impact statements, and site feasibility analyses. 

  • Collaborates with architects, interdisciplinary leads, and contractors to ensure projects progress properly.

  • Advises stakeholders of the benefits and risks associated with various design options.

  • Collaborates with surveyors (or directs and participates in surveying) to establish installations or reference points, grades, elevations, and other factors that will affect construction.

  • Monitors project progress and ensures design specifications, safety, and sanitation standards are met.

  • Sets and monitors project budgets and collaborates with the project management staff to allocate personnel to appropriately staff project needs.

  • Participates and assists in planning the professional development and career path of junior staff.

  • Participates in industry and networking events for marketing and business development.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directs and oversees junior or subordinate staff members regarding design tasks.

  • Identifies opportunities to share experience and teach junior/subordinate staff to support the delegation of more complex tasks over time.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Thorough understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools.

  • Proficient in computer-assisted design (Civil3D preferred), stormwater management software (HydroCAD and/or Hydraflow Hydrographs preferred), and other design, data recording, and analyzation softwares. 

  • Thorough understanding of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of the design.

  • Ability to assess constructability of potential design options.

  • Thorough understanding of safety regulations related to assigned projects.

  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to be both creative and analytical.

  • Extremely detail-oriented and accurate.

  • Ability to manage staff working from remote locations.

 

Education, Experience, and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.

  • Licensure as professional engineer (PE) in the State of North Carolina (or ability to receive licensure by comity within 3 months) required.

  • Work based in the Raleigh/Durham area.

  • Minimum 10 years-experience of design experience preferred.
