We are seeking a Structural Project Manager to join the Mainstay Engineering Team.
 

ROLE SUMMARY: PROJECT MANAGER, STRUCTURAL
As a Structural Engineer Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing various projects across a wide range of industries, ensuring sound structural engineering, compliance with regulations, and completion within both scheduling and budget constraints. You will work with a team of engineers and cross-functional professionals, coordinating their efforts to deliver high-quality results, within budget and on time.

We are seeking a Civil Project Manager to join the Mainstay Engineering Team.

ROLE SUMMARY: CIVIL PROJECT MANAGER 
As a Civil Engineer Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing various projects across a wide range of industries, ensuring sound civil engineering / site design, compliance with regulations, and completion within both scheduling and budget constraints. You will work with a team of engineers and cross functional professionals, coordinating their efforts to deliver high-quality results, within budget and on time.

​Structural Engineer (PE or EIT preferred)

We are seeking a Structural Engineer to join the Mainstay Engineering Team.

ROLE SUMMARY:
STRUCTURAL ENGINEER (PE or EIT preferred)–  

As a structural engineer you will be responsible for accurately working out the structural integrity of a proposed construction and ensuring it meets regulations such as health and safety.

Below is a summary of Key Accountabilities:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES FOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

  1. Design & provide structural engineering solutions for client projects

  2. Align & coordinate with other engineering disciplines on client deliverables/projects

  3. Proactively anticipate client and project needs

  4. Communicate in an effective and timely manner with internal and external stakeholders

  5. Set and manage project schedules; coordinating internal with QA/QC goals

  6. Using computer modelling simulations to predict how structures will act under varying conditions, i.e. high winds, flooding or earth tremors

  7. Calculating loads and stresses on structural foundations, beams and walls

  8. Ensuring projects meet legal, environmental and health and safety standards

  9. Advising on suitable materials for a build

  10. Inspecting buildings to assess their structural integrity

  11. Advising on building repairs or demolition

  12. Preparing bids for tender

  13. Working with designers to develop construction plans and blueprints

  14. Delivering progress reports

  15. Assisting with renovations, or restoring heritage buildings to extend their lifespan

  16. Working at a client’s business, on a construction site or in an office, sometimes outdoors or in noisy, dusty conditions.

As a Civil Design Engineer, you will be working under the direction of the Civil Project Manager(s), as well as the firm’s Directors while partnering internally with the Mainstay team in both Civil & Structural Engineering. You will assist our engineering staff in the design and preparation of civil documents. Primary responsibilities will include drafting of civil plans and details, civil design of site components, and performing research related to projects.​​

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • Ability to perform design calculations, prepare drawings, write material specifications, and perform shop drawing reviews. Strong organizational, technical, and communication skills a must. 

  • Experience with AutoCAD C3D

  • EIT or ability to obtain within one year

  • Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in civil (or similar) engineering at an ABET accredited college or university.

  • Years of Engineering Work Experience: 2-6 years

  • Role Focus: 90% internal, 10% external                            

  • Business Development: Minimal – referrals and introductions as relevant to experience
