OVERVIEW

As part of the Ocean County Courthouse restoration project, three façades required a forensic study to determine if restoration and repointing was necessary.  The goal was to determine underlying causes of visible cracks in the exterior masonry by exploratory investigation.

The existing brick facades are on the north end of the existing two story original structure dating from the 1850’s.  Renovations to the façades occurred in the 1970’s with replacement of windows, and brick façade modifications and what appeared to be coatings applied to the limestone cornices and entablatures.

Mainstay was engaged by Yezzi Associates to perform structural analysis and assessment of the building façade and prepare a study report outlining recommendations for remediation in an order of magnitude, so the owner could prepare capital budgets for the necessary repairs.
