Job Description

The structural engineering intern, under the direction of a professional engineer, will assist our engineering staff in the design and preparation of structural documents. Primary responsibilities will include drafting of structural drawings (plans, sections, details), structural design and analysis of structural components, building code evaluations, and performing research related to projects. Interns may also be eligible to accompany engineers on site visits.

 

Job Requirements

• Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s Degree program in Civil Engineering or higher

• Ability to work full time for the duration of the internship program and/or summer internship period

• Experience with AutoCAD and Revit software a plus

• Completion of relevant coursework in structural steel, concrete, masonry, and timber design a plus

• Must have reliable transportation

• Must be a highly motivated team player who is eager to learn and contribute

• Must be equally comfortable in an office setting and the field

 

Job Responsibilities

• Structural analysis and design

• Preparation of Construction Documents and BIM models

• Perform interoffice and interdisciplinary project coordination

• Perform IBC code review and establish project design criteria

• Review shop drawings and submittals and respond to contractor requests for information

• Perform construction observation site visits and dimensional surveys
